This is believed to be a good initiative in the direction of roadways traffic reduction as it will ensure that non-destined commercial vehicles, which are estimated to be more than 80,000 approx. do not enter the city limits of Delhi region since the vehicles coming from all NHs use the national capital as transit. The usage of this 52 km access-control expressway stretch will be free of any charges for the first two months. However, later cars will have to pay Rs 1.3 per km whereas heavy vehicles will need to pay Rs 4.5 per km as toll charge. Four toll plazas have been forged to ensure that commuters pay only for the distance they cover instead of paying for the entire stretch.

Speaking on the inaugural occasion Union Minister of Road Transport, Highways and Shipping, Nitin Gadkari said, ‘Once we complete the WPE and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE), traffic on Delhi roads will reduce by half and there will be less air pollution’.He later added while addressing industry leaders at a CII summit that there is a proposal to develop logistic hubs along the two expressways so that big go-downs can be shifted out of Delhi. This is seen as an opportune moment by realtors as the residential projects will get an up thrust.

‘All the major highways and expressways within the country have witnessed growth in terms of Industries & trade and commerce due to strong connectivity. KMP has been one of the major expressways that connect three states and 4 major highways. Thus,it will lead to substantial Industrial growth in areas like Kundli, Sonipat, Bahadurgarh, Palwal including Manesar. As a result this will create a boost in trade, commerce and industries in the New Gurgaon will be benefited in a big way’, said Mr. Anupam Varshney, Head Sales & Marketing, Vatika Limited.

After going through a lot of tribulation in the past, the impending project caught a steady pace last year when contract of this project was handed over to a new concessionaire by Supreme Court. Haryana government officials reported that although the remaining Palwal and Manesar stretch would take another 1 year, the already completed way can work as a bypass for Delhi.

Ms. Monica Kalvani, AVP- Sales & Marketing, DLF said,‘We are delighted to hear that the Manesar-Palwal stretch of Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway has become operational. The much- awaited connectivity will make the commute from major upcoming industrial hubs planned along the KMP Expressway to newer sectors of Gurgaon much easier. In fact, it makes DLF Gardencity, which is coming up in Sectors 81-95, an even more attractive option for the people working in the industrial hubs along the expressway’.

Ms. Kalvani further added, ‘The existing road networks provide New Gurgaon superb connectivity to Jaipur and Agra. Furthermore, once the Manesar-Kundli stretch is completed, the drive to Chandigarh as well as Punjab will become shorter’.
