India openers Lokesh Rahul and Murali Vijay had helpful outings on the last day of the sole warm-up game on Saturday in a confidence booster before next week’s opening test against Australia.
Vijay, dropped for the home two-test series against West Indies, scored 129, his innings studded with 16 fours and five sixes.
Cricket Australia XI leads by 69 runs. 427/7
Ishant Sharma understands the breakthrough for India, dismissing Aaron Hardie, who gets caught behind. He was looking dangerous and also the 180-run partnership comes to an end. What an innings from the man who was outstanding with the ball as well, picking up 4 wickets! Cricket Australia XI began the day off by taking the lead with Harry Nielsen and Aaron Hardie at the crease.
At stumps on day three of the practice game between Cricket Australia XI and India, the home side ended the day on 356/6, just two runs shy of India’s first innings total of 358. Mohammed Shami was the pick of the Indian bowlers as he claimed three wickets for 67 runs, while Umesh Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin picked one up.
There was some bad news for India, however. Teenager Prithvi Shaw had to be carried off the field after he hurt his ankle trying a grab in the boundary rope and will miss the first Test.
