Designations of an IAS Officer:
The Indian Administrative Service candidates need to pass the UPSC examination in order to get selected for this post. Passing the examination is very difficult as it is competitive in nature and requires a lot of hard work.
The candidate should have completed graduation from a government recognized institution in order to apply for this examination. The toughness of the examination cannot be explained. In the year 2018, around five lakh candidates appeared for this examination. Out of five lakh, only 170 candidates were selected for the post of IAS officer. The person should work hard and have the zeal to pass this examination.
There are several designations offered to an IAS officer in different phases of their career. When a person is recruited for IAS officer post, the person serves as a Sub Divisional Magistrate. This period is considered as a trial period for the person. After completing the trial period, the person serves as a District Magistrate and Collector in a district for a long period of time. After this, the person serves as a Divisional Commissioner.
