Kolkata, 10th March, 2022:  Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), WB has launched an edited book with chapters contributed exclusively by its students of M.Sc. in Applied Statistics & Analytics (2020-22).

It was ceremonially launched by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of MAKAUT  Prof. (Dr.) Saikat Maitra on the 5th of March, 2022, at the International Kolkata Book Fair in the Stall of the University.

The compendium focuses on upholding the lives of the greats whose contribution to the sphere of statistics remains immortal in the annals of history. The aim is to take the reader on a time-travel through the annals of history along the footsteps of the great statisticians to provide

them with an insight on how statistics evolved to reach the towering height where it now stands.

The Editor-in-Chief Prof. (Dr.) Sukhendu Samajdar has rightly pointed out this compendium is the footprint of ‘learning by doing’ on the part of students belonging to the 1st year of the very 1st batch of the MSc in Applied Statistics & Analytics program intrepidly introduced by

MAKAUT, WB (India) in the academic year 2020-21 in defiance of the threat of Covid19. It evolved from a ‘term paper’ assigned to the students of a Paper on the History & Evolution of Statistical Thought which Prof. Samajdar taught in the even semester of AY 2020-21. Teaching-learning was completely online. In spite of inevitable shortcomings, therefore, this volume deserves commendation as an ‘of the students, for the students, by the students’ deliverable of learning outcome.
