IIIT-D has builta smartphone-based app to measure quantity and quality of sleep. This innovationworks on self-developed algorithm to detect sleep using a Smartphone with the help of the phone’s inbuilt accelerometer sensor and attached heart rate sensor. Through this innovation, people can easily and seamlessly measure their sleep, without requiring a lot of technical know-how, while helping to diagnose a very commonly occurring disease of Sleep Apnea.This technology will also help the doctors to track and study the sleeping habits of patients remotely.

“Our aim was to build a low-cost portable device controlled by patient’s Android Smartphone, to measure sleep. The device is easy to use and consists of airflow (rate of respiration), Pulse Oximeter (heart Rate And Spo2), Accelerometer (PLM), and EEG (Brain Waves) Sensors. The data storage is cloud based.
