The Government of India has declared 26 November as the National Law Day of the Constitution on 19 November 2015 by notice in the gazette. The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi made the announcement on 11 October 2015 while laying the foundation stone of the B memorial. R. Ambedkar in the Statement of Equality in Mumbai. The year 2015 was the 125th birthday of Ambedkar, who was the chairman of the Constituent Assembly’s written committee and played a very important role in drafting the constitution. Background

From 2015 was the 125th anniversary of B. R. Ambedkar (14 April 1891 – 6 December 1956), known as the father of India’s constitution, the government decided in May 2015 to celebrate this year “in a big way”. A special committee headed by the Prime Minister of India was announced for the annual celebrations. Various programs will be held by various departments throughout the year to spread Ambedkar’s thoughts and ideas. “as Constitution Day”. Significance

November 26 was marked as the Day of the Constitution of India by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015 as part of the annual celebration of the 125th birthday of Dr. B R Ambedkar. Constitution Day of India aims to raise awareness of the importance of the Indian Constitution and its coordinator, Dr B R Ambedkar.

Ambedkar was a well-known social, political, and legal activist and is also known as the Father of the Constitution of India. He was elected chairman of the constitutional committee on August 29, 1947.

Celebrations

Constitution Day is not a public holiday. Various departments of the Government of India celebrated the first day of the Constitution. According to the Department of Education and Writing, the preamble to the constitution was read in all schools by all students. In addition, there were online and offline questionnaires and articles on the Indian constitution. There was talk of key constitutional issues in each school. The Department of Higher Education has asked various universities to organize opposition parliamentary debates in colleges, and the University Grants Commission (UGC) organized an all-India questionnaire at Ambedkar University, Lucknow, where cross-examination participants from all provinces participated.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs directed all Indian schools overseas to celebrate November 26 as Constitution National Law Day and instructed the ambassadors to translate the constitution into the national language and transfer it to higher education institutions, libraries and various Indology disciplines. Work on translating the Indian constitution into Arabic has been completed. The Department of Sport organized a symbolic race called “Run for Equality“. There was also a special session of the Indian parliament on 26 November 2015 to honor the constitution and Ambedkar. The Parliament building was also illuminated by the event.

Andhra University students took part in the ‘Run for Ambedkar‘ conference to celebrate the 70th Constitution Day event, on Beach Road in Visakhapatnam on 27 November 2019.
