Mumbai, 23rd March 2022: As the country learns to survive with the New Normal post-pandemic, Mumbai is witnessing a physical community exhibition and artists-in-residence program at Somaiya Vidyavihar University, titled Immerse. This exhibition has been conceptualized by Natasha Jeysingh of Carpe Arte, Al-Qawi Nanavati of Young Art Support, supported by the Somaiya Vidyavihar University, and curated by Shaleen Wadhwana. The team’s momentum has shown that creating such community-driven events is a fertile ground for the sheer energy of raw, emerging, and independent talent to merge together and truly create fresh magic. The exhibition is available for public view at the Somaiya Vidyavihar campus from 19th to 29th March 2022 to extend their support to the young talent across our country.

The fourth day of the exhibition witnessed the curator’s walk followed by a conversation with Hena Kapadia, Veeranganakumari Solanki & Sameer Kulavoor moderated by Shaleen Wadhwana. Celebrities like Rochelle Rao, Keith Sequeira and Lisa Bocarro graced the event.

Speaking about the festival Siddharth Somaiya said “The artists here have never showcased their work physically because they are all recent graduates and due to the pandemic they have not got a chance to show their work in a physical environment. I am so glad that they can show their art to an audience from  across India. Hundreds of people appreciating their work. I just want the artists to reach the moon.”

Shaleen Wadhwana, curator of the festival  said “Immerse is basically an exhibition that brings together 23 art forms across 22 cities of India and it is uniquely Immerse because we have tried to put together over 10 mediums of how these artists interpret their life, home and realities around them. The art is available in various formats and people from several parts of the world can listen to the virtual talk. I am extremely happy to be part of this.”
