Amity Institute of Biotechnology (AIB) of Amity University, Mumbai organized its first ever Biotechnology festival “AMIBIOME” to celebrate Biotechnology Day. The objective of this event was to inculcate the importance and potential of biotechnology among the students. To provide a platform for the students to showcase their scientific talents, nurture the entrepreneurial abilities and spread scientific awareness.
AMIBIOME 2022 was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr.) A. W Santhosh Kumar. He encouraged the students to nurture their skills while they gain knowledge and insights about their field. Ms. Bhavana Pandya, Innovation Catalyst @Ridl and Head of BioRiiDL, Mumbaiwas invited as the chief guest for the ceremony. She delivered a talk on the topic “Mind to Market”. In her talk, she brought a beautiful amalgamation of entrepreneurship and biotechnology. Speaking at the event, Dr Penna Suprasanna, Head of Institute, AIB, said, In 2022-23 showcasing many of the biotechnology advances and that’s how National Bio-Technology Day has been celebrated here.
During AMIBIOME 2022, students participated in various activities like bio-quiz, sci-rang, poster and working model competition, bio-skit, Jamming events. They also displayed their entrepreneurial abilities through setting up and selling their own food and flea market items during these two days.

AMIBIOME 2022 concluded with a valedictory and prize distribution ceremony. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr A. W Santhosh Kumar expressed his views that the students who had showcased their extraordinary talents and looks forward to many such grand events in the future from the biotechnology students.

He said, “Biotechnology is a very fascinating field. As compare to Western world where there is research that is going on in fundamental aspects, here in India , we currently focus on product oriented research. It is moving on from Knowledge to Technology. It is my request to all faculties and students at the campus, to take it to the next level by organizing Bio-Hackathon, in bringing about new products and patents nurturing ideas to contents from Amity University Mumbai. He concluded by conveying the vision of Founder President Dr. Ashok Chauhan and Chancellor, Dr. Aseem Chauhan that Amity is always and will be a research driven university with innovation as its mantra.
