Kolkata, 22nd January 2025: In a heartwarming celebration for Country’s 76th Republic Day, Somersault, in collaboration with Rare Warriors of Bengal Association, hosted an inspiring event filled with joy and laughter. This special occasion brought together over 15 children from the NGO, transforming Somersault’s indoor playground and café into a vibrant wonderland of happiness and inclusivity. This year marked 75 years of India’s constitution, a milestone that echoed with history. From the dreams of independence to the vibrant nation we see today, every moment reflects the strength of its foundation. As we look back, memories of struggle and triumph fill us with pride. India’s journey, shaped by resilience, continues to inspire. This year’s theme centered on “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas”. Somersault’s Republic Day celebration captured the very essence of the country’s progress, emphasizing the importance of unity, freedom and inclusivity by sharing love and laughter with the NGO kids.

The Rare Warriors of Bengal Association is a non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of children with rare diseases through advocacy, awareness, and medical support. It focuses on educating families and healthcare providers, while advocating for better access to care, social inclusion, and insurance coverage. Ongoing initiatives include screening camps, specialized health services, vocational training, and financial support for medical expenses and underprivileged families.

The organization’s co-founder, Shikha Mehatramani, joined the children in celebrating this special day. Sharing her thoughts, she said: “A soft play zone like this is very important and therapeutic for children in our Rare Disease community. It allows them to engage in activities that are not only fun but also contribute positively to their emotional and physical well-being.”

The event commenced with a warm welcome of the guests, followed by a fun-filled exploration of Somersault’s play zones. The children participated in interactive games, exciting activities, and memorable moments of pure joy. The day was designed to nurture unity, inclusivity, and a sense of togetherness. The children who often face communication barriers due to down syndrome, the event allowed them to express themselves through laughter, movement and joy of simply being together. The children proudly waved the Indian tricolour, celebrating their participation in a moment of national significance. To add an extra layer of excitement, Somersault had organized a surprise activity for the kids. Hidden throughout the play zones was a secret hanging gift scarf filled with toffees, chocolates, delighting the children as they discovered this hidden treasure. This thoughtful gesture, combining the spirit of giving with playful exploration, brought smiles to every child’s face.

Nishit Jain, co-founder of Somersault, shared: “At Somersault, we believe in celebrating freedom by spreading joy and creating memorable experiences for all children. This Republic Day, it was an honour to host these wonderful kids and share the spirit of unity and happiness through play and togetherness.”

Somersault, Kolkata’s premier indoor playground, proved to be the perfect venue, with colorful, interactive spaces that fostered fun, excitement and decorated with tricolor ballons, flags and vibrant displays highlighting the importance of Republic Day. The event featured engaging activities, including the unique ‘Super Runio’ game, all supervised by ‘Fun Officers’ to ensure a safe and thrilling experience for the children.

To complement the festivities, a special menu was served to the children. The menu included cheesy loaded nachos, mini pizzas with vegetarian toppings, mac and cheese bites, BBQ potato wedges, fruit cups with a mix of fresh seasonal fruits, chocolate brownie bites, and refreshing beverages like lemonade and strawberry milkshakes.

The day was a beautiful celebration of Republic Day’s true meaning – unity, love and inclusivity. Somersault honored the spirit of the day by sharing joy and warmth with the children, creating memorable experiences of love and togetherness.
