Mumbai, 12th August 2025: Kommune and Netflix India proudly launch the fourth edition of their Voices of Tomorrow (VOT) initiative, part of the Voice Equity Project. As India’s only professional initiative of its kind, VOT seeks to democratise the dubbing industry by discovering, nurturing, and championing raw voice talent from underrepresented communities. Building on the overwhelming success of its past editions that spotlighted queer voices, children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, and adults over 45, this year’s focus returns exclusively to senior adults (45+).
The 5-month initiative, set to run from August 2025 to December 2025, will be in collaboration with several Mumbai-based artist organisations and talent agencies. Auditioning a pool of around 250 individuals from Mumbai, the program will narrow down to 25 of untapped voices for an intensive 8-week dubbing training. After this, the final cohort will also gain hands-on experience in professional dubbing environments and refine their essential soft skills via a dedicated industry training week. Mentored by industry stalwarts like Shernaz Patel, Alekh Sangal, and Simran Singh, and supported by multiple dubbing studios, this unique program will prepare participants for real-world opportunities to launch their careers in voice acting.

With the world rushing towards synthetic sound and generative audio, the need for authentic, expressive human voices has never been more critical. VOT seeks to give a stage to the artists in the wings by inviting them to follow their passion, in turn, making India’s voice talent landscape more diverse, representative, and impactful through authentic storytelling. Through this initiative, Kommune and Netflix India continue to challenge norms, amplify new narratives, and drive inclusive change within the entertainment industry.
Speaking on the fourth edition of the initiative, Roshan Abbas, Founder, Kommune India, said, “With Voices of Tomorrow, we’ve always believed in creating space for real stories and real voices. We are thrilled to be supported by Netflix yet again. This edition, dedicated to senior voices, brings with it authentic storytelling layered with depth that deserves to be heard. We hope that this kind of collective effort helps turn our belief into a movement that gives fresh voices not just a platform, but a real shot at belonging in the industry.”
Ashwini Kulkarni, Senior Manager, Dubbing, Netflix India, added, “As Netflix Dubbing, we aim to make stories speak to everyone, everywhere. Partnering with Kommune to support Voices of Tomorrow has truly helped us highlight and amplify underrepresented voices challenging the traditional
casting approach. Since 2022, we have added over 60 new voices to the talent pool. As our content continues to travel beyond borders, we will continue to enrich the global narrative with authentic voices.”
Who Can Apply
VOT is created to nurture voice talent by empowering eligible individuals with the skills required to thrive in dubbing across both the big screen and small screen.
- Individuals who are 45 years old and older
- Applicants must be Indian citizens and residing in Mumbai, as training will be conducted in the city itself
- As an additional requirement, the applicants must be fluent in English
Shernaz Patel, Voice Coach, Voices of Tomorrow, said, “At a time when the entertainment landscape is demanding authenticity in every frame, Voices of Tomorrow has emerged as a vital platform. What began as an initiative to amplify underrepresented voices has evolved into a movement that’s helped rediscover the power of vocal expression and storytelling, regardless of age or identity. This year’s senior cohort has the potential to add unmatched depth and nuance to the industry, and I’m thrilled to be guiding them through that journey.”
Simran Singh, Director & Voice Performance Mentor, Voices of Tomorrow, added, “Every time we step into the studio, something new unfolds — not just for the participant, but for me too. What excites me about this program is how it opens the door for fresh voices with lived experience to step up and be heard. I’m here to help them not just find their voice, but learn how to use it with impact, with honesty, and with a sense of who they are. I’m thrilled to be part of an initiative that’s making space for that kind of real, powerful expression.”
Adding to the same, Alekh Sangal, Dubbing Coach, Voices of Tomorrow, said,“We’re at a moment where the industry is hungry for stories that sound authentic, rooted and resonate. This initiative gives us the chance to work with voices that have age, emotion, and experience – often overlooked in favour of trends. What excites me about VOT is watching participants go from holding back to completely owning the mic, trusting their rhythm, their pauses, their quirks. As a coach, it’s a privilege to be part of a creative space where every voice feels safe, celebrated, and free to explore this wonderful craft.”
Voices of Tomorrow has carved space for those rarely heard but deeply needed. With each edition, the initiative has uncovered powerful potential in places hardly considered by the mainstream. Its inaugural year welcomed a cohort of 20, while the second and third years brought in 23 and 21 participants, respectively, from across LGBTQIA+ communities, children from economically underserved backgrounds, and senior individuals. All selected participants received professional dubbing training, unlocking career opportunities in films, shows, audiobooks, ads, and more across Hindi and regional languages. Many have since branched into theatre, podcasting, and creative translation as well. Alumni like Aajay K Chauhan lent his voice to major titles like Pushpa 2, Anuja, Adolescence, and Dabba Cartel, among others. Meanwhile, Sangya Ojha lends her voice to beloved characters from Gali Gali Sim Sim, with a range of films, including Carry On, The Manhattan Alien Abduction, and No Good Deed. Yatin Sangoi has also brought his vocal talent to dubbing for titles like Squid Game 2 and Mercy for None.
With a vision to create a positive and meaningful impact on the future of storytelling, Voices of Tomorrow is once again opening doors for those aged 45 and above to step behind the mic and into the spotlight.
