Spokesperson: Mr Arun Balaji V, Alumni of SP Jain School of Global Management.
The inspiring leader Indra Nooyi, former CEO of PepsiCo, once said, “Every year in consulting is like three years in the corporate world because you have multiple clients, multiple issues—you grow so much.” This resonates deeply with my journey, which has taken me from a humble upbringing in a small town to donning a suit and tackling consulting challenges in GCC countries. It’s been a path filled with surprises, growth, and immense gratitude.
My professional journey began with over three years of experience at one of India’s leading corporate conglomerates, where I had the opportunity to interact with and learn from world-class leaders. Joining SP Jain School of Global Management was a turning point, as the corporate identity I carried was reshaped by the incredible peers I encountered in the GMBA program. They kept me grounded, constantly aware, and open to diverse perspectives. It was a pivotal phase, where I delved into the fundamentals and first principles of business, theories of disruption and transformation, and engaging case study and project discussions. My experiences in Singapore and Dubai expanded my worldview beyond the lens I had developed solely from my experience in India. The general management curriculum, with specializations in supply chain and finance, laid a strong foundation for my path in consulting.
One of the key lessons from SP Jain’s Global MBA program was understanding that the pace of innovation and disruption globally is faster than ever, and the only way forward is to continuously reinvent oneself and adapt to the ever-changing business environment. The SP Jain ecosystem instilled in me the mindset to unlearn and relearn, equipping me to be curious, prudent and resilient amidst tough situations. The projects I pursued through SP Jain, such as those with Gulf Marketing Group and Scan Global Logistics, gave me invaluable hands-on experience in problem-solving and consulting with corporate companies in leading economies like Singapore and Dubai. Additionally, business simulations in the classroom helped me develop decision-making skills and understand the potential impact of decisions before encountering such situations in real life. With best-in-class professors and instructors, the classroom discussions were not just enlightening but often turned into healthy debates, preparing me to challenge and be challenged by real-world scenarios.
I also had opportunities to hone and showcase my interest in sustainability, a rapidly growing area of importance in today’s world. Whether it was case studies, business ideas and model development, or pitches, I consistently explored sustainability as a lens to analyse and innovate in this field. Currently, in my consulting role, I handle diverse projects across countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, and the UAE. I strongly believe that the experiences and exposure I gained at SP Jain have made me a better professional, capable of thriving in competitive environments.
