A group of motivated and socially minded DLF Employees Volunteers to shape the dreams of 250 less privileged students at the Summer Camp for the school scholars supported under DLF Foundation’s ‘Nurturing Talent Programme’ at Ridge Valley School, Gurgaon. The two-days-long Summer Camp commenced on 27th June, with story-telling session conducted by DLF employees as part of Employee Engagement program.  The DLF Foundation gives scholarship to over 1200 such students every year and provides allied coaching, counselling and mentoring services.

The students from Class V to XII were segregated in various groups on the basis of their classes and separate sessions were held for each sub-group. The thematic areas for the Storytelling Sessions included Cleanliness, Career, Mother-Child relationship, Financial Literacy, Role Models, and Fire and Safety. These sessions were part of a range of topics covered by expert faculties and counselors.

Mr Rakesh Kumar Meena conducted a session on “Fire Safety” for the students of Class IX and X. The students were given live demonstrations on use of fire extinguishers and how to protect one self in the case of a fire outbreak and also gave tips on safety measures to be taken in the case of natural calamaties.

Ms Madhumita Chaudhuri conducted a story telling session for the students of Classes VII and VIII. She related a story by Rabindranath Tagore about mother child relationship.

Mr Manoj Rana conducted a session on “Money Matters” educating the students of XI and XII on benefits of saving money early in life and its benefits in the long run. He also discussed the various methods by which they can save money. Mr Sanjiv Arora too conducted an empowering session for the Class XI and XII students on” Positive Thinking.”

On the occasion, Mr. P.K. Joseph, Director Programmes, DLF Foundation said: “Our efforts at the Summer Camp have been directed towards providing our bright scholars, hailing from less privileged sections of the society with best possible assistance to shape their character, build their soft skills and provide the much needed guidance and mentoring to help them become successful professionals of tomorrow”.

“It was an enriching experience to be a part of this workshop. The session on ‘How to handle relationships’ was enlightening, and will go a long way in empowering us. I look forward to more such initiatives being organized in my school,” said Ashwin, a student of Class IX.
