Stories and storytelling have always been a source of strength for me, helping me make sense of the world and envision something better. That’s why I founded Empowerwoment to harness the transformative power of art and storytelling to help young girls pursue their passions, even when society tells them otherwise.
My journey began with a simple realization that the stories we grow up hearing often shape how we see ourselves and what we believe we can achieve. But too many of those stories limit girls to being side characters or damsels in distress. I wanted to change that. I started writing original poems and rewriting classic fairy tales, curating them a feminist perspective to challenge outdated stereotypes. These pieces became more than creative works, they became a way to show girls that they could be heroes of their own stories.
Building on this foundation, I expanded my initiative to include podcasts where I interview female role models : women who have broken barriers in fields like technology, business, and the arts. Their stories of resilience and success inspire young girls to see that obstacles can be overcome.

One of the most rewarding projects I’ve completed is my book, The Modern Magic Spell (January 2024), a collection of gender-defying stories that emerged from creative writing sessions I held with marginalized high-school girls in my community in India. Seeing these girls craft their own empowering narratives and then watching their confidence grow has been one of my proudest achievements. The book reminds me that stories truly have the power to spark change.
My passion for storytelling also led me into research. I authored a 7,000-word paper titled “Women’s Intersectionality in Folklore: Examining how Culture, Gender, and Class Shape Narratives of Empowerment”, which I presented at the 3rd International Conference on Women, where I was honored with Best Student Presenter and Best Presenter in “Recent Trends in Feminist Knowledge for Equality.” The paper is now under review with the Journal of Research High School.
For me, storytelling isn’t just about rewriting narratives, it’s about removing deep rooted biases and reshaping mindsets. By creating platforms for young women to share their voices through poems, podcasts, and events, I’m determined to help them see that their stories matter. My mission is to show girls everywhere that they are not limited by the roles society gives them, they can write their own.
