FICCI FLO Kolkata Hosts ‘The MSME Connect’ – Empowering Women Entrepreneurs to Drive Economic Growth

Kolkata, India – February 22nd, 2025: FICCI FLO Kolkata hosted The MSME Connect, an insightful and inspiring seminar focused on empowering women entrepreneurs in the MSME sector. The event featured industry experts and business leaders who shared their experiences, challenges and strategies for success, providing valuable insights into navigating and thriving in the MSME ecosystem.  

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. (h.c.) CS Adv Mamta Binani, President of the MSME Development Forum – West Bengal Chapter, and India’s first registered Insolvency Professional. With 28 years of professional experience, Dr. Binani specializes in corporate governance, company law, and the turnaround of stressed assets. She highlighted the crucial role of women entrepreneurs in India’s economic growth, emphasizing the need for financial literacy, access to funding and government support. 

Dr. Binani also provided deep insights into the legalities, policies and opportunities within the MSME sector. She emphasized the importance of structured business growth and compliance for entrepreneurs looking to scale their ventures.

The session featured a panel discussion with three accomplished business leaders:  

Ruchika Gupta, President of Sanmarg Group, Eastern India’s leading Hindi daily, spoke about the power of media and communication in amplifying the voices of women entrepreneurs. As the force behind *Aparajita – Saluting Womanhood*, she has been instrumental in recognizing and celebrating women achievers.

Jyoti Jain, Joint Managing Director of TT Ltd, a NSE & BSE-listed textile company, shared her journey of navigating the textile industry, a traditionally male-dominated sector.

Sunira Chamaria, Former Director of Damodar Ropeways & Infra Ltd, discussed the role of women in large-scale infrastructure and business projects.

The panelists shared their experiences of overcoming challenges, navigating business growth and breaking barriers in traditionally male-dominated industries. They spoke about resilience, strategic decision-making and leveraging opportunities in the MSME sector.

The event shed light on the significant contributions of MSMEs to India’s economy and the crucial role of women entrepreneurs in driving growth and innovation.
