Pune, October 19, 2021: Staying true to its liberal and interdisciplinary ethos, FLAME University, the pioneer of liberal education in India, has launched its Ph.D. program to develop the next generation of knowledge creators who will be able to approach issues from multiple perspectives, glean unique insights, and provide effective solutions to pressing problems of academic and practical interest. The Ph.D. program will be available in the areas of Data Science, Psychology, Economics and Management.

Announcing the launch of the Ph.D. program, Dr. Dishan Kamdar, Vice-Chancellor, FLAME University, said, “The decision to launch a doctoral program at FLAME University is in line with our vision to become a premier research-oriented institution.  This will further help us achieve these distinct objectives –  encourage and groom meritorious young people into high calibre academicians which will address the gap of high quality faculty in top-notch institutions across the world, and finally create a body of rigorous and outstanding research that can create an impact. We will be offering the program in the areas of Data Science, Psychology, Economics and Management, which will combine academic rigour with practical insights and a multidisciplinary approach”.

The admission process will consist of an entrance test, followed by an interview which will gauge the aptitude, subject knowledge and motivation of the applicant to pursue research. The Ph.D. candidate who is admitted under the FLAME University fellowship scheme will be provided with a monthly stipend with biennial increments as per University policy for 4 years from the date of admission. Candidates on fellowship will also be given financial support to attend two National and one International conference and a contingency grant during the course of the program.   

A Research Advisory Committee (RAC) consisting of experts in the field will be constituted for each Ph.D. candidate and will be the main body guiding the candidate in their research work. FLAME University provides an environment where cutting-edge research is done by a community of scholars where the focus is placed on conceptual clarity and the utilisation and development of new methodologies. Ph.D. scholars will work, through collaborations and joint projects, on real-world issues in close association with outside organizations/industries and apply appropriate and innovative methodologies to address their problems.
