Keynote speaker, Dr. Abhay Jere, the Chief Innovation Officer for Ministry of Education, Govt. of India said, “I congratulate FLAME University for allowing the students to explore their choices and have the necessary exposure to the real world. By breaking the silos existing between different disciplines, the learning environment for students would be holistic.”

Ms. Saloni Goel, Climate Change Specialist at NITI Aayog said, “I would like at the outset to congratulate FLAME University for organizing an event around the subject of climate change that requires not only urgent attention and action, but also requires work by all nations. It was never before in the history of human civilization to have such an urgent call to action, the need for collaboration and concerted action at the global level. So we all know and reading enough about climate impacts, global warming impacts around us, we know the world is now facing an unprecedented environmental challenge.”

She further added that, India has ambitious targets, whether it is the world’s largest renewable energy expansion plan with 500 gigawatts of non-fossil installed capacity by 2030. “A part of our Glasgow declaration is advancing the target of 20% ethanol blending by 2025. We are constantly bringing various reforms in the energy sector and making it industry investor friendly. India is presently the third largest energy consumer, but it also has the world’s fourth largest renewable energy installed capacity in the world. India’s grid connected renewable electricity capacity has already crossed the milestone of 100 gigawatts and this is excluding our hydro capacity. We are targeting self-reliance in energy production recently declared by the Prime Minister by 2047.” she said.

Some of the topics discussed during the conference:

  • Public Policy (India’s Climate Change Policies (National and Regional Initiatives)
