The esteemed economist Mr Abhinay Muthoo, former dean of Warwick in London has been appointed as a visiting professor at MDAE for Economics
Meghnad Desai Academy of Economics (MDAE), India’s leading postgraduate institute for Economics, Data Science & Finance and, Public Policy, has onboarded Dr Abhinay Muthoo, the former Dean of Warwick in London as a visiting professor for Economics.
Dr Muthoo is a renowned economist specializing in applied microeconomics, game theory and public policy. He has over 37 years of teaching and research experience across leading universities including the University of Cambridge, the London School of Economics, Harvard, the University of Bristol, the University of Warwick, and the University of Essex. Over the years, he has taught many economics courses including microeconomics, game theory, development economics, industrial organization and political economy.
Amlesh Kanekar, Director of Academic Programs, Meghnad Desai Academy of Economics, said, “Dr Muthoo has been one of the most distinguished economists globally. His research over the past decades has had an impact in the field of economics, and we are delighted to have him on board with us. Dr Abhinay Muthoo said, “I am glad to join MDAE, with its carefully crafted courses that are educating, and empowering the next-generation economists. As a part of this new association, I intend to add a new dimension to the student’s understanding of economics by elucidating its role in applied microeconomics, negotiations, policy-making and game theory.”
An alumnus of the London School of Economics (LSE) and of the University of Cambridge, Dr Muthoo holds an MPhil and PhD in Economics from the University of Cambridge. In 2013, he founded a policy lab at the University of Warwick. He is also a fellow at the National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR) and a member of the UK Cross Parliamentary Party Youth Violence Commission. Dr Muthoo is one of the world’s authorities on the subject of negotiation. Dr Muthoo was a professor and the Head of the Departments of Economics at the Universities of Warwick and Essex across a span of 25 years.
