National; November 11, 2024: Great Lakes, Gurgaon is pleased to announce that it has become a Signatory Member of the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) – a United Nations – supported initiative aimed at raising the profile of sustainability in business schools worldwide and equipping students with the understanding and ability to drive change for a sustainable future. As a voluntary initiative with over 800 signatories worldwide, PRME has become the largest organized relationship between the United Nations and management-related higher education institutions.

Joining PRME is a natural progression of our ongoing commitment to thought leadership in sustainable development and responsible management education. It represents a significant step toward more active engagement in a global community of like-minded institutions under the aegis of the UN, aligning perfectly with our ‘what we speak, we do’ philosophy.

Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon’s mission is to foster managerial excellence and human capital development to meet the needs of the business world through teaching, research, and executive programs. 

We believe that PRME’s focus on responsible management education will support us in adopting best practices from other PRME members worldwide.

In 2019, Great Lakes made a significant commitment to education and sustainable communities, identifying these as core areas of focus, which align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 and 11. In alignment with PRME’s Values Principle, we have already implemented various in-class and extracurricular interventions to promote responsibility and accountability, including our Karma Yoga initiative, Community Outreach, and Leadership Development Programs, as well as courses on corporate ethics and business governance.

Aligned with the Teach Principle, our management programs have been committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Over the past five years, we have emphasized research in sustainability-related fields. Through the Partnering Principle, we have actively engaged with industries via diverse academic activities, while our strategic focus on skills-centric programs reflects the Practice Principle. Furthermore, in the spirit of the Sharing Principle, we make nearly all research findings and best practices accessible on our institution’s website, enabling a global audience to benefit from our insights.
