The ceremony was presided over by Shri. Kamal Nath, President, Governing Council of IMT Ghaziabad. He addressed the convocants and expressed, “Management education has a cutting-edge role to play in societal and economic development. The focus has to be on developing global leaders and managers, equipped with appropriate skills. It is also important to strengthen the inter linkages between entrepreneurship, employability and management education. The image that IMT has in the industry is the result of its innovative approach towards management education and the achievements accomplished by the IMT talent over the years.”
The theme of this year’s convocation, ‘Conquering Conventions’ was aimed to promote the unconventional thinking and highlight the inherent strength of IMT Ghaziabad and its relevance amidst the challenges of today. The theme reflects and reinforces the collective mindset of conquering the world by breaking the barriers of the conventional. Convocation 2016 brings the students closer to building their arsenal of successful approaches in meeting the newer challenges coming their way.
The event also marked a momentous day with the traditional IMT Ghaziabad way of felicitating its alumni. Mr. Sunil Kataria, Business Head (India and SAARC) – Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) was felicitated with ‘Distinguished Alumnus Award 2016’. A graduate in Economics from Delhi University, he specialized in Marketing at IMT Ghaziabad. The prestigious ‘Vishit Jain Memorial Award’ was conferred to Varsha Arvind 1st year PGDM student from IMT Ghaziabad.
A number of students were also awarded with Institute’s Medals for Academic Performance in the various programs. For scoring the overall highest CGPA of 9.09 and accomplishing an exceptional achievement, Ankit Gupta received Gold Medal during the graduation ceremony. Ankit Gupta, a student of the Dual Country Program (DCP) of IMT Ghaziabad, is an exceptionally bright and meritorious student having completed his 1st year from IMT Dubai and 2nd year from IMT Ghaziabad as part of the DCP program which is a unique program offered by IMT Ghaziabad. He has also got a campus placement offer with Deutsche Bank.
The list of other students who won Gold Medal included Adrita Guha (PGDM-Full-Time), Yojana Ranasaria (PGDM-Finance), Shreya Bisht (PGDM-Marketing), Iyer Priya Rajan (PGDM-Executive) and Arindam Mitra (PGDM-Part Time). The Silver Medal was conferred to Keerthana C S (PGDM-Full-Time), Jayant Parasramka (PGDM-Finance), G. Srikanth (PGDM-Marketing), Shikhar Suri (DCP), Swapnil Bartaria (PGDM-Executive) and Abhay Kumar Thakur (PGDM-Part Time).
