Delhi-NCR, January 23, 2025: Indian School for Design of Automobiles INDEA, under the aegis of the XLRI Centre for Automobile Design & Management (XADM), marked its presence at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, presenting its vision for a world-class automotive design school in India. As the country’s first dedicated school for automobile design and management, INDEA aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry practices, equipping students with the skills needed to excel in the evolving automotive sector. At the Expo, INDEA engaged with industry leaders to explore potential collaborations and gather insights on what ‘Design in India’ means to the automotive community.
The INDEA booth was inaugurated on January 17th by Mr. I.V. Rao, a respected automotive industry veteran and mentor to INDEA, and Mr. Adil Jal Darukhanawala, a pioneer in Indian automotive journalism. The booth served as a useful hub for eminent automotive engineers and designers to meet and discuss India’s design heritage, and talk about future directions that the industry seeks and the design skills that automotive companies require even as the world moves ahead with electric mobility and new technologies like ADAS. With the valuable feedback they provided, industry experts also helped the INDEA team gather useful insights into what the industry wants and expects from a new automotive design institution.

The INDEA booth also served as a point of interest for aspiring designers – talented young individuals seeking to make a career for themselves in the exciting, fast-paced world of automotive design. Some of these aspirants made good use of the Wacom design tablet that was available at the INDEA booth and created beautiful illustrations that could well be a precursor to the actual production cars that they might design someday. The INDEA team fielded many questions about the details and curriculum of its M.Des program in automotive design and these details will be released over the next few months.
Fr. Dr. K.S.
