Panel discussion on Deeper Industry-Academia Integration – a Pre-requisite for Quality Human Capital Dr. James Abdey from The London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE) to deliver Keynote Address New Delhi, April 12, 2019: The fourth ISBF & LSE Annual Teachers’ Symposiums, a collaborative effort between The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and their Featured Teaching Institution (FTI), New Delhi-based Indian School of Business & Finance (ISBF), is to be held on Monday, April 15, 2019 at the Gulmohar Hall, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on the subject “Empowering Post-Millenials by Future Proofing Learning & Counselling”. This will be first of four deliberations, to be held between April 15 and April 18, 2019, and will be followed by symposiums in Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad.

The symposium in Delhi will also feature a panel discussion on the theme “Deeper Industry-Academia Integration – a Pre-requisite for Quality Human Capital”. The panelists include Dr. James Abdey, Lecturer of Statistics, Associate Director of the University of London International Programmes and progenitor of the Data Science courses at LSE, Dr. Pronab Sen, former Principal Economic Advisor to the Government of India and Chief Statistician of India, Vimlendu Jha, the Founder of Sweccha and selected by CNN International as one of the six worldwide Change Makers, and Nilay Arun, who was awarded the ET Youth Entrepreneur of the Year 2018.
Dr. James Abdey will deliver the keynote address, focusing on the pedagogical and counselling practices that can help develop graduates with future-proof skill-sets.
Dr. Jitin Chadha, Founder & Director of ISBF said, “We expect that the interaction between the city’s top high school educators, led and guided by the experts present, will add great value and lead to the curation of learning and counselling environments which nurture graduates who can tackle the vicissitudes of an increasingly unpredictable world of work”.

The morning breakaway session on embedding employability skills in classroom pedagogy will be led by Dr. James Abdey, and another one on psychological and career choice-related challenges faced by post-millennials will be led by Ms. Pervin Malhotra, one of the city’s leading career counsellors.
Breakaways in the afternoon will see a hands-on exchange of participatory teaching, learning and assessment of best practices among educators in one session, and of career opportunities of the future in the fields of Economics, Management, Finance and Data Science in another session.
The day-long event will culminate with a presentation by ISBF on LSE-driven pedagogical interventions which have helped inculcate a spirit of enquiry and deep learning among students, following LSE’s motto of “to understand the causes of things”.
