JKLU organises SPARDHA, their annual sports extravaganza in the presence of Asian Para Games medalist and Arjuna Award winner Mr Sandeep Singh Maan

Jaipur, April 1, 2022:  India’s premier higher education institution, J K Lakshmipat University ((JKLU), Jaipur, today kicked off the 10th edition of “SPARDHA”, their three-day Annual Sports extravaganza. This Sports festival embodies the true spirit of healthy competition and youthful fervour amongst students and has students from over 30 colleges, from across the country, participating in 21 different sporting events.

Asian Para Games medalist and Arjuna Award winner Mr Sandeep Singh Maan was the Chief Guest of the occasion and Dy Superintendent of Rajasthan Police & trophy-winning Pro Kabaddi player Mr Raju Lal Chaudhary was the Guest of Honour. All the sports events are hosted by JKLU on the respective campus grounds and facilities.

Mr Sandeep Maan mentioned that he had often faced rejections owing to injuries even after preparing very hard but he practiced diligently and won accolades later. He wants to motivate children who go through struggles by sharing his own life stories. He said, “Physical disabilities are not shortcomings; they can be converted into strengths. Today people know me for those shortcomings. Everybody has some talent – recognize your talent. There are no short cuts to success. Hard work eventually pays”.

Mr Raju Lal said that there are enough job and career growth opportunities for sportsmen. “The Rajasthan Government has made some very good policies and provided facilities for sportsmen and Sandeep Maan ji and I have benefitted from them. The human body does not need more than 6-7 hours of rest per day; the more you use your body physically, the more you benefit healthwise”, he said.

In his inaugural speech, Vice Chancellor of JKLU Prof Dheeraj Sanghi said, “I welcome all the students of  different colleges who took the trouble to visit us from far and near. Sports should be played with sportsman spirit, ethically and with full vigour. Discipline has to be maintained and we should bear in mind that the referee is always right”.

Over the next 3 days, students from various colleges across India are participating to showcase their talent and passion for sports in different tournaments including cricket, box cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, kabaddi, shooting, table tennis, chess, carom, cross fit and athletics.
