Pune, 2nd May 2022: Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Pune (SIT Pune), a constituent of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) hosted the Leadership Summit for Diploma Principals and HODs on 30th April 2022. The theme of the Summit was to conduct deliberation on National Education Policy (NEP) typically with respect to diploma technical education. The formal inauguration was held at the SIT, Pune campus in the presence of Chief Guests Dr. M. R. Chitlange – Secretary, MSBTE, Mumbai; and Dr. D.V. Jadhav – Joint Director, Technical Education Regional Office, Pune along with Expert Speakers Prof. Virat Giri – Principal, Sanjay Ghodawat Polytechnic, Kolhapur, Maharashtra; and Prof. (Dr) Prashant Kadu, Director, Innovation, Incubation and Linkages (IIL), Gaikwad-Patil Group of Institutions, Nagpur.

The ceremony was initiated with an introductory talk about Symbiosis Institute of Technology by Dr. Nitin Khedkar, Deputy Director, Administration. He mentioned that this is the fourth year of the summit and encouraged any possible future joint collaborations. Further, Dr. Arundhati Warke, Deputy Director, Academics spoke about the various academic initiatives carried out at SIT under NEP.
Following the inauguration ceremony, Dr. M.R Chitlange congratulated all the invitees present and spoke about how leaders can reform technical education in society. He rightly expressed that “Leaders are rather not born but created with experience”. He elaborated on the various initiatives implemented by MSBTE which are in line with the NEP 2020. Additionally, Dr. Chitlange loudly appreciated the facilities extended to the student community on the campus for their all-round development.

Dr. Prashant Kadu graced the first expert talk on ‘Skill Set Requirements for Diploma Students’ where he shared valuable insights to aid the development of students. He pointed out the joint collaboration between diploma and degree college faculty in the overall skill enhancement of the diploma students.
Further to this highly insightful talk, Prof. Virat Giri spoke about focusing on ‘the Role of Administration for Implementation of the National Education Policy’. He envisioned the need for a multidisciplinary and holistic engineer in the near future through National Education Policy (NEP).
Dr. Ketan Kotecha, Director and Dean, Faculty of Engineering at Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Pune proposed the conduction of joint skill-building workshops by engineering and polytechnic faculties.
Following the three thought-provoking talks, Dr. Nitin Khedkar and Dr. Sonawane Chandrakant R led the panel discussion on National Education Policy wherein a plethora of ideas and forward-thinking initiatives were shared. Dr. Khedkar spoke about ethics playing an integral role in the development of a current techno-age engineer. An interaction was also arranged with all Heads of Departments to further facilitate the exchange of knowledge and ideas and explore future collaborations. Post the interaction, Dr. Sonawane Chandrakant R led the tour of the SIT/SIU campus to showcase the cutting-edge infrastructure supporting the new-age pedagogy followed at the institutes.
Towards the end of the Summit, the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Sonawane Chandrakant R. All the esteemed invitees were felicitated with a token of appreciation and certificates. Furthermore, to showcase the rich and varied culture of Pune, a tour around the historic and iconic landmarks was organized for the participants and dignitaries.
