Don’t get fooled by their name, it may look like some fun stuff but what they have been doing since it is found is serious stuff. Their slogan ‘Don’t Stop BELIEVING!’ is being justified by their work for the children in Orphanage and Shelter. Some might say that the youths get spoiled by the money but it is not for all. As MAD says “It’s not the MONEY you have, but what you DO WITH IT that matters”.

This beautiful hearted non-profit organization started when Jithin C Nedumala, Gloria Benny and Sujith Abraham Varkey started to visit a boy’s home named YMCA Boys in Cochin to spend some time there. They went to shelter and found out that so many talented kids are there. After this they made several visits to the shelter and felt that something need to be done more than just some mare visits. It was 2005 and this is where idea of MAD was born.

This organization first started as English teaching organization. They had belief that if these children know how to speak English then this might help them in building a future for self. But Jithin C. Nedumala, Co-Founder of MAD, told that this didn’t go as they have planned. They found that students who gone through this English Learning Exercise have fallen back to the similar condition where they started.

Jithin is 30 year old social entrepreneur who is supported by Michelle Obama’s ‘International Youth Engagement Program’. At the time of inception of MAD, they started recruiting the teacher via a presentation made by Jithin, Sujith and Kavin. As the first generation of MAD there were 20 teachers who signed up for this. Their aim was clear, they were going to eliminate the illiteracy, give support and encouragement to those children who need them.

MAD supports each child from the age of 10 to 29. Trained mentors extend not just academic support but also emotional aid to ensure transition readiness, and help in securing admissions in the most suitable colleges,” adds Jithin.

Since now their work is been praised so many times. In 2017 they have been awarded as Great Place to Work Institute- Top 20 great mid-size workplace. Each year they have been recognized by different organizations for their brilliant work.

“Make a Difference is an amazing program designed and run by young adults
who recruit other young people, outstanding college students like themselves, to mentor and teach children
who haven’t had the same chances in life as many of the mentors have had.” These are the words of former First Lady, United States of America for MAD.
