Noida, March 31, 2022: Noida International University’s (NIU) School of Nursing has recently organized a day-long campaign on Tuberculosis Awareness under the flagship of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan at the Primary Health Center of Dankaur, Uttar Pradesh.
The highly-skilled nursing students under the supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Dinesh Kumar, Director, SON, NIU and Ms. Shikha Gupta, HOD Community Department of nursing actively participated in the campaign. They also worked closely with the medical officers of Primary Health Center, Dr. Hariom Sir, and Dr. Narayan Kosher.
The campaign started with a health awareness session on tuberculosis by Dr. Kosher and he briefly explained about the early symptoms and its prevention. The students also contributed with the presentation through pamphlets, role plays and rally in the PHC.
“The overall objective of the campaign was to promote the knowledge about the modes of tuberculosis transmission, environmental factors in tuberculosis, Identification of tuberculosis suspect, prevention of tuberculosis among the general mass at Dankaur. Tuberculosis is one of India’s major public health problems. According to World Health Organization (WHO) estimates, India has the world’s largest tuberculosis epidemic. In 2020, India accounted for 26% of the incident TB cases across the globe. India has incidence rate of 192 cases per 100,000 of population,” said Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Director, School of Nursing-Noida International University.
