Students collected over 100 kg of plastic waste as part of the drive
Bengaluru, 26.09.2022: Orchids – The International School, BTM Layout branch and Arabhavi foundation jointly organised a Lake Clean-up Drive at Hulimavu lake recently. The drive was organized to raise awareness regarding water bodies and to promote their conservation.
Orchids – The International school has been organizing many such events to develop the ecological concerns and sense of sustainability among students. The lake area is 124 acres. The students contributed their service to preserve the lake and collected over 100 kg of plastic waste.
Sathish Shetty, Hulimavu resident addressed students and urged them to protect and save the lakes. He further said, “There were 1300 lakes in Bengaluru earlier. With rapid construction work and garbage dumping in lakes. The condition of most of the lakes has detoriated and lake bodies in city have reduced drastically. Let us strive together to protect the precious our ecosytem by conserving and restoration of lakes in our city”.
Santhosh Arabhavi, founder of Arabhavi foundation appreciated the efforts of students and thanked the gathering. Bhagyalaxmi Murali, Ex – corporator of Arekere and many local residents volunteered and participated in the activity.
The students of Orchids – The International school are bringing awareness on responsible festivities and celebrations this time around.
