Principals of schools across Delhi-NCR and the industry leaders came together to discuss the new techniques of teaching and learning at ‘Principals’ Educational Conclave 2016‘.
The theme of the conclave was ‘A Transversal Education’. The conclave was a 2 day affair organized by Suncity School Gurgaon at their campus which ended today. The conclave aimed to understand the lacunae in the learning process and bridge the gap between EXPECTATION and REALITY. The conclave had series of discussions wherein the speakers brainstormed on what needs to be done for making sure that the children are industry ready.

They are well equipped with skills to fit in their professional roles. The suggestions after the conclave will be drafted in white paper and presented to Niti Ayog for necessary actions.
Principals of more than 50 schools including Rotary Public School, Shri Ram Global, Scottish High, DPS Sushant Lok, DPS Sector 45, HDFC Public School, Gurgaon, Ajanta Public School, Bal Bharti School, Manesar, Red Roses Public School, Gurgaon, Alcohon Public School, Delhi and others participated in the conclave. Mr. Rajesh Agarwal, Co-Founder- Micromax and Mr. Dilip Venkatraman, Founder and CEO-ITV (India News, News X and Sunday Guardian), ex CEO-CNN-IBN and IBN7) Harvard Alumni and Mr. Mark Treadwell, a renowned neuro psychologist from New Zealand were the key note speakers of the conclave.
The inaugural session of the conclave was delivered by Ankit Goel, Vice Chairman, Suncity School. In his address he stressed on the fact that education has evolved from what it used to be and is continuously evolving to suit the needs of the industry.
Mr. Mark Treadwell conducted the academic session for the Principal’s conclave on the second day. He spoke about his understanding of the functioning of brain .The theme for Mark’s talk was on the future of teaching and learning as we move through the second decade of the 21st century. Mr. Treadwell has worked with the New Zealand Ministry of Education as a member of the New Zealand Curriculum Review Group. Mark has presented over 300 sessions to national and international audiences over the past 5 years including. He delivered his first ever lecture in India at Suncity School and delved upon topics which are rarely discussed and address important issues.
Mr. Mark Treadwell said “We need to move forward from the usual reading and writing to watching as a medium of learning. The only way to integrate education with employability is to integrate knowledge with technology. We need to teach our kids to question, rather than just learning and remembering and writing exams. The major skills that give a child an edge are communication, teamwork, adaptability, leadership, networking, decision making, commercial awareness, flexibility, initiative, innovation and creativity. ” Addressing the principals he said “As educators we need not to know everything, we just need to be passionate so that we can transfer the passion and zeal to the children. Each and every subject is interesting and important if taught well.”

Request NowHe said, “Institutions now days are out of sync of the needs of the industry, it is important for Corporates and educators to have continuous communication to bridge that gap. The need of the hour is to focus more on practicality rather theory.”
The first day of the conclave concluded with a round table discussion led by the students. The students had a one on one interaction with the educators and industry experts. Students suggested more use of technology, industry exposure and focus on more practical learning.
