3rd June 2016 New Delhi: India’s premier Infrastructure Consultants, Rudrabhishek Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. (REPL) organized the second Annual J.P. Bhargava award for the Best Urban Planning thesis today at India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.
REPL conferred this award to encourage the students of Urban Planning by recognizing their Post Graduate thesis. Entries were invited from all the AICTE approved institutes and ITPI offering Master’s degree or P.G.Diploma in Urban and/or Regional Planning. A jury, consisting of prominent planners evaluated all the thesis on parameters like innovation, practicability, depth of analysis and conclusions. Winners from three shortlisted students were then chosen by participants’ voting, based on their presentation in the event.

The finalists were Mr. Hemant Sharma of SPA – Delhi (Identification of Future Smart Cities in a Region’: A case study of State of Karnataka); Ms. Purva Saxena from SPA-Bhopal (Low Carbon Mobility Plan for the CBD: A Case Study of M.P. Nagar, Bhopal); and Ms. Christy Ann Cheriyan of CEPT- Ahmedabad (Assessment of Transit Transfer Experience, Case of Bangalore.

Winner received cash prize of Rs. 1 Lakh, while two other finalists were given Rs. 50,000/- each.
Mr. Pradeep Misra (CMD-REPL) said, “This award is constituted in the memory of Late Shri Jagdish Prasad Bhargava, a renowned Urban Plannerwho has made a remarkable contribution for the development of the infrastructure in the country. With this award our aim is to encourage the young planners who will shape the urban landscape of the country in future. Urban Specialist Mr. Ashok Srivastava from Asian Development Bank (ADB), Prof. J.H. Ansari (Director, REPL), Mrs. R.P.Kaushik (Advisor, YEIDA) and Ms.Meena Bhargava (GM, YEIDA) and other dignitaries adjudged the prestigious competition and the audience selected the winners.
