Dr. Gabriel Serrano Sanmiguel comes from a long tradition of doctors in his native Colombia. His father, Dr. Gabriel Serrano Garzón served as a general surgeon and family physician for 65 years in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. He chose Valencia (Spain) as a place to study medicine because he fell in love from the first day of this beautiful city, where he continues to practice his profession as a dermatologist for 45 years. Dr. Gabriel Serrano began his career at the Medical University of Valencia obtaining the title of Doctor of Medicine and Surgery Cum laude and completed his residency in Dermatology at the General University Hospital of Valencia, to become Clinical Head of the Department of Dermatology, where he worked for more than 25 years. During this stage, he did several fellowships in the United States (Charleston, Philadelphia, Chicago). He was the founder of the Spanish photobiology and the cryosurgery group and for many years become associate editor of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. He is honorary professor of the Ramón y Cajal academy of medical sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid and Honorary Professor of Dermatology at the University of Bali (Indonesia). Eight years ago he created the Sesderma Bali Foundation to help disabled children and abused women. In 1989 he founded Sesderma Laboratories, in the absence of dermatological products that existed in those years, becoming one of the parents of the present dermato-cosmetics.
