Chennai, 21st April 2022: In an effort to further strengthen the Indian medical ecosystem, SRM Valliammai Engineering College (SRM VEC) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with city based Multi-specialty hospital SIMS, Vadapalani to offer hands on training to its Medical Electronics Engineering students. The partnership will aim to foster innovation and research led learning that will help enable students from the field to offer guidance in solving clinical problems seamlessly. As part of the MoU agreement, SIMS hospital will provide students a hands-on learning experience in handling the medical equipment through regular training sessions and also internship programs.
Medical Electronics Engineering is one of the rapidly emerging specializations in India. The stream aims to bridge the growing gap between engineering and medicine by combining the strengths from each stream. SRM VEC’s through this partnership aims to create a talent pool of medical electronics engineering professionals who cater to the need for advanced healthcare treatment in India. Over the course of five years, under the partnership the students will undergo rigorous training and mentorship with the guidance of SIMS senior practitioners.

The Under-Graduate Programme B.E. Medical Electronics started in the year 2019 and is functioning effectively to impart quality education to undergraduate engineering students in the field of Medical Electronics. The department has highly qualified and well experienced faculties specialized in areas like Instrumentation, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Electronics, Applied Electronics. The faculty members are actively involved in Teaching –Learning process and Research activities in the field of electronics with medical applications. It focuses on physiological functions of human body and integrates it with engineering principles to apply different techniques, skills, tools to solve clinical and healthcare problems for the patient needs like prostheses, medical information systems, artificial organs, instrumentation, care delivery systems and health management.
