With the objective of highlighting the Sustainability Goals and pertaining challenges as well as discussion over suggestive measures, the Education Committee PHDCCI in association with KAS organized the National Summit on Sustainability and SDGs on Tuesday, 14th December 2021 at Le Meridien, New Delhi.

Saket Dalmia, Sr. Vice President, PHDCCI, addressed the dynamics of SDGs and the role of the corporate sector in achieving these goals. He said that it is pertinent to reconfigure the entire education system to facilitate learning, so that all of the critical targets and goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development can be achieved.
Shreevats Jaipuria, Chair – Education Committee, PHDCCI, while defining the importance of education in Nation-building stated that education is listed in SDG 4 and we strongly believe that Education is important to achieve not just one but all the 17 SDGs.” NEP is set to put India back on track in achieving Sustainable Development goals. The New Education Policy (NEP) with its inclusive and qualities reforms will help create future leaders well versed with sustainability and development, added Mr Jaipuria.

He also mentioned that Pollution and climatic deterioration adversely impact the education of children, industrial activities, endangering small islands, and many other factors pertaining to life.
Anshu Gupta, Magsaysay Awardee; Founder Goonj, and Gram Swabhimaan highlighted the need to do an internal self-assessment and try to utilize all the resources at our disposal and deploy them for the collective good of society. He also mentioned that the Covid-19 waves were times of greatest learnings for the whole of mankind and it is high time that sustainability is a key part in every move we make.
