20th December 2021, Pune: The Lexicon Group of Institutes, one of India’s leading education hubs is soon going to launch the Lexicon Institute of Hotel Management in Pune, Maharashtra – a hotel management college which is ‘By the Hoteliers and For the Hoteliers’. Distinguished leaders and veterans of the hospitality industry have come together to establish this institute which is set to bring in a new dawn for hospitality education in India.

The brainchild of the Lexicon Institute of Hotel Management stems from Hoteliers who form the ‘Governing Council’ getting together to create a Hotel Management college ‘By the Hoteliers, For the Hoteliers’. The Governing Council includes Mr. Nasir Shaikh, a decorated Hotelier with over 2 decades in the hospitality and a former General Manager – Marriott International and Chairman of the Marriott India Business Council, Mr. Gurmeet Singh (Chief Mentor – Lexicon IHM & Former Sr. Area Director of Human Resources), an industry veteran who in himself is an institution when it comes to Human Resources and Hospitality and Anup Seth (Director Placements and Corporate Relations), having over 15 years of robust experience across fields in brands such as Taj Hotels, Hyatt and Marriott International
This Institute which is helmed by as Mr. Gladwin Rego (Principal), par excellent academician with over two decades of experience and is also an empanelled educator with the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) and has over the years nurtured young and eager minds to become the leaders they are today.

The Lexicon Institute of Hotel Management endeavours to make the curriculum industry relevant and industry needed which means that the focus lies in creating ‘Day Zero Professionals’. Nasir Shaikh – Profile
Nasir Shaikh brings experience, compassion and leadership together, to create a better learning and growing experience, for himself and others. Before taking on as the CEO, The Lexicon Group of Institutes (2020), Mr. Shaikh was a name to reckon with in the hospitality industry where he received many accolades and recognitions. He has won Debbie Marriott Harrison Take Care Award of Excellence 2017, Asia Pacific Take Care Award 2019 – Marriott International, BW Hotelier- General Manager (2017) and Best Business Council of the World – Marriott International 2019 amongst many others.
Taking The Lexicon Group of Institutes motto ahead, Mr. Shaikh works on the principle of ‘Believe In Yourself’. He has enjoyed over two decades in leadership roles, something that has encouraged him to take it one step further by entering the world of education and coaching to address challenges of leadership in an evolving world.
A hotelier turned educationist, Mr. Nasir Shaikh functions on the personal motto ‘Putting People First’ to leading teams in driving outstanding results for all stakeholders, with integrity and transparency in his working style. As a part of the Marriot Hotels, he successfully held a prominent position of Chairman of the Marriott India Business Council (2018-2020) whilst being the General Manager at The Westin Pune Koregaon Park.
He is proponent of civil rights and social action; mediation and problem solving and has trained himself specially to hone these crucial skills to successfully deliver leadership roles in various capacities. He encourages his team and millennials to take ‘negotiation as a conversation directed at reaching a consensus or an agreement,’ and not a direct conflict.
His penchant for innovation and leadership skills have helped the brands he has worked at, to weave several success stories of growth, cementing his position as a name to reckon with. His empowering direction has helped The Lexicon Group of Institutes to innovate and win even in times of the pandemic adding value to the students and all stakeholders. This has reflected in the growth of the number of students and positive movement in the rankings with both The Lexicon Schools and Lexicon MILE being ranked no. 1 in their respective categories in Pune.
