Jamshedpur, India, April 15, 2025: XLRI – Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur, inaugurated the new academic year for its distinguished programs PGDM (General Management) and PGDM (HRM) for Emerging CHROs at the Tata Auditorium, XLRI Jamshedpur. The solemn yet spirited event began with a Prayer Service and Lighting of the Lamp, invoking blessings for the journey ahead.
A total of 150 students were formally welcomed:
- PGDM (GM) Batch 2025-26: 120 students (48 Female & 72 Male)
- PGDM (HRM) for Emerging CHROs (Batch-4): 30 students (12 Female & 18 Male)
Both programs span 18 months, focusing on grooming high-potential professionals into ethical and impactful leaders.
Dr. (Fr.) S. George, S.J., Director of XLRI Jamshedpur, addressed the incoming students with a powerful reflection on wholehearted living, emphasizing values such as courage, empathy and connection. He drew from philosophical and spiritual traditions to stress the importance of interdependence in today’s world. “Courage is not the absence of fear, but the ability to move forward despite it. And in the 21st century, we must be rooted in both self-sufficiency and a collective spirit,” he shared.
Dr. Sanjay Patro, Dean (Academics), welcomed the students with a reminder of XLRI’s founding principle ‘MAGIS’, the relentless pursuit of excellence and the greater good. He encouraged students to embark on this new academic journey with humility, curiosity and a deep sense of purpose.

Dr. (Fr.) Donald D’Silva, S.J., Dean of Administration & Finance, led a moving interfaith prayer for knowledge, unity, justice and leadership grounded in ethics and human dignity.
Senior faculty members including Prof. Purna Chandra Padhan (Associate Dean, GM Programme), Prof. Manoj Thomas (Associate Dean, Corporate Programmes) and Prof. R. K. Premarajan (Programme Director, Emerging CHROs) graced the event and participated in the ceremony.
The Prayer Service included readings from the Bhagavad Gita, Bible, Guru Granth Sahib, and the Holy Quran, symbolizing XLRI’s commitment to inclusivity and holistic education. Students also took an Honour Pledge, promising to uphold ethical conduct, respect diversity and embody the values of excellence and integrity throughout their journey.
The inauguration concluded with a reflective video presentation followed by the National Anthem. Students, faculty and guests proceeded for a High Tea reception.
This occasion marks the beginning of yet another transformative chapter at XLRI, India’s first B-School, now in its 76th year, further strengthening its legacy as a global leader in management education for the greater common good.
