• Tanishka had represented India for the International Olympiad for Chemistry – she had cleared the Indian Olympiad Qualifiers in Mathematics, Astronomy, and Physics

Ahmedabad, September 11, 2022: TanishkaKabra, a student of Aakash BYJU’S, fromSG Highway Branch in Ahmedabad, scored 277 out of 360 in JEE Advanced 2022 and secured AIR 16 thereby becoming the All India Girl Topper as well as the IIT Delhi Zone Topper. Having obtained AIR 16, she is hoping to get admission in whichever IIT that is reputed for its UG program in computer science, her most favourite subject.  

Tanishka’s father is a government employee, and her mother, a homemaker. Her only sister, also a student of Aakash BYJU’S, has a MBBS degree, and is currently doing her internship. Tanishka chose to pursue engineering for higher studies as she was extremely good in maths and science. Even as she pursued board exams at school, she kept clearing the Indian Olympiad Qualifiers one after another in Mathematics, Astronomy, and Physics. She was also selected to represent India for the International Olympiad for Chemistry. 

Her passion for computer science took root in Class IX, when she learnt programming for the first time from an exceptional teacher. Tanishka made use of the time she got during the Covid-19 lockdown to learn new computer languages online. 

A fan of Aakash National Talent Hunt Exam (ANTHE), she appeared for the exam first in class 8 and then in Class 9. But even after joining Aakash BYJU’S for the Foundation program in class 9, Tanishka gave ANTHE in Class 10, and 11. She got AIR 11, her best in ANTHE, in class 11. “I believe that exams like ANTHE are very important as they give you a chance to compete with students from across the country, and give you an all India ranking. Exams can also give one an idea of where he or she stands in studies. Students also get the much needed exposure to Multiple Choice Questions, the evaluation method preferred by many competitive exams around the world.”

Tanishka believes in “small wins”. “I feel small milestones keep me motivated and help me stay the course in the long run. I had many of them: Olympiads, ANTHE and other tests at Aakash BYJU’S. But a lot of students don’t have short-term goals. They focus only on JEE Main and Advanced. I think it is not advisable,” she reasons. 

Tanishka spent time listening to music and swimming during study breaks. On her suggestions to JEE aspirants, she cautions: “Listen to what other people say, but choose the preparation strategy that works the best for you”. She emphasises that family support is important. “The journey of preparing for JEE can be a difficult one, and there will be times when you feel frustrated. In those moments, talking to parents and family members will help, as they will only try to help you out.”
