AISECT signs MoUs with the Government of Gujarat to provide free vocational training under various schemes in Gujarat

March 31, 2020: AISECT, which is India’s leading Social Enterprise working in the area of skill development, has signed new MoUs (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Gujarat Council of School Education (GCSE) and Gujarat Minorities Finance & Development Corporation (GMFDC), Government of Gujarat, to provide free vocational and skills-based training under various schemes in Gujarat. As part of the partnership with GCSE, AISECT will provide vocational trainers to train over 3000+ students from 75 secondary schools of 22 districts, under vocational education programmes for Retail and Electronic& Hardware sectors. In another partnership with GMFDC, AISECT will essay the responsibility of providing free-of-cost training to minority students in Beauty & Wellness sector under the ‘Kaushal se Kushalta’ scheme in 2 districts of Gujarat.

Talking about the partnerships, AISECT’s Executive Vice President Mr. Siddharth Chaturvedi said, “The ‘Kaushal Se Kushalta Scheme’ aims at imparting skills to the targeted beneficiaries leading to self-employment. By organizing skills-based development programmes in Gujarat, AISECT will try to bridge the gap between lack of skills-based training and job markets. Through our partnership with GMDFC, we aim to work for betterment of students from minority sections and provide quality-based training in the relevant sectors by following the Government guidelines. Our new partnership with GCSE will give us the opportunity to take our programmes to more than 4500 students in the primary schools of Gujarat. We are committed to provide quality skill trainers in the selected schools so that quality training reaches the grassroots level areas.”

AISECT will deploy vocational trainers in selected 75 secondary schools of Gujarat as a part of its collaboration with GCSE. The training programmes, which have already commenced from 22nd February, will run for two years. Out of 75 awarded schools, 38 schools are selected for Electronics & Hardware sector and 37 are selected for Retail sector. The skills-based training programmes falling under the Retail sector will train students in roles like management of store operations, workplace behaviour, customer services, inventory check, etc. The training under the Electronics & Hardware sector will be for job roles like repairing home appliances, maintenance, etc. After the completion of the training processes, students will be certified by the relevant Sector Skill Council. The programme will provide great career and placement opportunities for the candidates in areas like sales & services, shopping malls, retail chains, etc.

In addition, AISECT will train students from minority communities in Beauty & Wellness sector in Gujarat under the ‘Kaushal se Kushalta’ scheme. As per this programme, members (age between 18-55 years)belonging to minority communities like Muslims, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists and Parsis, with an annual income of up to Rs 6 lakhs, will be given free skills-based training in the Beauty & Wellness sector.

Initiated from the first week of February 2020, the overall duration of this program is 3 months (250 hours). Under the ‘Kaushal se Kushalta’ scheme, the selected candidates will be provided free of cost training for job roles like beautician, pedicurist, manicurist, etc. The candidates should have a minimum qualification of passing 12th standard. A selection committee will select and monitor the students and the ongoing courses. The candidates selected for the courses will be provided with a training kit consisting of a bag, a pen, Training module, a notepad and an identity card. They will also receive a stipend of INR 1000 and the amount will be transferred directly to their bank accounts.

After the completion of the courses, certification will be provided by the Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council and the students will receive placement support as well. AISECT will organize Rojgar Melas at select locations.
