New Delhi, June 26th , 2019: AISECT, which is India’s leading Social Enterprise working in the area of skill development, has partnered with the Assam Building & Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (ABOCWWB) to provide free-of-cost skills training to 462 candidates in the State.The training will be conducted across five sectors, namely Electronics, Construction, IT, Retail and Tourism & Hospitality. Of the 462 candidates to be trained, 200 will be trained in the district of Karimganj and 262 in Golaghat.

Set to commence in the third week of June, the training programme will be spread over three months for each batch and is expected to be completed by March 2020. 230-440 hours of trainingwill be provided to the candidates based on the job roles. Apart from free-of-cost training, candidates will also be provided with training kit consisting of bag, pen, pad and identity card. After the completion of the training, the candidates will be assessed and certified by the Sector Skill Councils through third party assessment agencies.

Talking about the programme, AISECT’s Executive Vice President Mr Siddharth Chaturvedi said, “Through the partnership with ABOCWWB, we intend to expand our skilling and training initiatives in Assam. Leveraging our decades of experience in delivering quality skills training to people in the rural and backward regions of more than 20 states, we intend to enable the students of Assam and prepare them for future jobs. This programme will not only expose the candidates to better job opportunities but also strengthen the overall economy of the State. ”

He further added, “While the training is currently offered across five sectors, we intend to expand our training initiatives into other sectors and offer a broader spectrum of opportunities in the future. North Eastern parts of India have lagged behind the rest of the country in terms of education and employment opportunities; we intend to push the region towards development through sector-specific skill training.”

To be eligible for the programme, the candidates should be beneficiaries of ABOCWWB, Government of Assam and should have a minimum educational qualification of 8th/10thpass (based on job roles). After the completion of the training programme, AISECT will also organizeRojgarMelas at select locations to assist the candidates with job placements by connecting them to potential employers.

Apart from this initiative, AISECT has been empanelled with Assam Skill Development Mission (ASDM) and executing training programmes through two centres.
