Amity University Mumbai organized a Leadership Conclave on the theme “The Building Blocks of Leadership” from Tuesday, October 3rd, to Monday, October 9th, 2023. The conclave was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) A. W. Santhosh Kumar. Dr. Rajan Velukar, Vice Chancellor of Atlas Skill-Tech University, served as the chief guest for the event.

The focus areas of this conclave are to discuss various issues such as academic leadership challenges, workplace conflict resolution, cultivating coalitions, managing subconscious biases and stereotypes, emotional resilience, academic leadership, and influencing without authority.

At the inauguration ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. W. Santhosh Kumar stated, “During this leadership conclave, we aim to impart leadership skills among our faculty members and top business management students. When we talk about leadership, it doesn’t provide a blueprint for what leadership should be. That’s why we have brought eminent speakers from different walks of life, including academia, industry, and coaches, who will guide us through the practical aspects of establishing leadership.”

Speaking on the topic of “Influencing without Authority,” Dr. Rajan Velukar said, “If you look back in history, you will find that some of the greatest people who influenced humanity were never formal leaders. Figures like Gautam Buddha, Mahaveer, and Gandhi did not possess formal authority, yet they had a profound influence on humanity. There is much we can learn from them. Each one of us influences others in some way, whether for good or bad, even without formal authority.”

Dr. Rajan Velukar emphasized the concept of influence and its significance in societal growth. He stated that a positive approach can help society influence each other, and individuals with good intentions can contribute to the collective growth of mankind.

Other speakers at the event would include Dr. V. N. Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice Chancellor of Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Mumbai; Prof. (Dr.) P. B. Sharma, Vice Chancellor of Amity University Haryana; Mr. Michael David, Director of Communications and Training Programs in Pune; and Dr. Chandrahauns Chavan, Professor and Director at JBIMS, University of Mumbai. They will address various subjects during the conclave.
