Bharti Foundation extends support to Umroi Presbyterian Higher Secondary School, Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya to launch FLN Classroom

  • Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) Classroom launched in the school to enable better teaching and learning during formative years (Nursery to Class 3)
  • Bharti Foundation has been supporting government schools in Meghalaya since 2018 under its Quality Support Program.
  • In this academic year, the Foundation has partnered with 45 government schools in Meghalaya spread across the 4 Blocks of Ri-Bhoi District (Umsning, Umling, Jirang & Bhoirymbong) for overall improvement of the schools and holistic development of children through co-scholastic interventions.

6 October 2023: In pursuit of holistic development of children and with the aim to improve the foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) in the students during formative years, Bharti Foundation has extended its support to Umroi Presbyterian Higher Secondary School, Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya in launching FLN classroom. The classroom has been integrated with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to lead teaching and learning through a modern and practical approach. 

The classroom was officially inaugurated by Smt. Mary Lynrah (State Pedagogy Coordinator, SEMAM-SSA & DSEL), Smt. P. L. Nonglait (DSEO, Ri-Bhoi), Shri. Vincent Nanglang (SDSEO & DMC, Ri-Bhoi), Shri. Ansumon Gogoi (Project Coordinator, Bharti Foundation Meghalaya), Shri. S. Kharshandi (Asst. Professor, Shillong College) and Smt. Ellika Synrem (BMC, Bhoirymbong Block, Ri-Bhoi).

People across Ri Bhoi district of Meghalaya widely recognize Umroi Presbyterian Higher Secondary School as a prominent education centre for its exceptional education standards and diverse co-curricular activities. The school designed the FLN classroom to ignite enthusiasm in children. Motivating them to actively engage and strive for the best knowledge achievable through education within the school. Bharti Foundation has been supporting the school in various co-scholastic areas, especially through the clubs in the school. Some of the clubs such as literacy clubs, eco and youth clubs, art and culture, and science and innovation clubs. Enable the students to actively take part in learning through hands-on activities and explore their potential and talents.

About Bharti Foundation

Bharti Foundation was set up in the year 2000 as the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises. It implements and supports programs in primary, secondary and higher education. Since 2006, the flagship, Satya Bharti School Program has been providing free quality education to thousands of underprivileged children in 173 schools in rural India across five states, with a focus on the girl child. The Foundation has been able to impact nearly 3 million children in a meaningful manner through its education programs this year.
