Late Dr. K.K. Birla, who took over as the Chairman in 1983, realized the need for providing top class higher education facility to greater number of promising students in science and technology, and under his patronage, BITS Pilani started expanding by establishing three new campuses – BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus in the year 2000, BITS Pilani, K.K. Every major seat of learning and education across the world is engaged in activities beyond the classroom and work towards becoming powerhouses of research and innovation. Students and faculty from various departments work in collaboration with each other and with the government and industry to carry out research in various areas. We, at BITS Pilani are engaged in several such programmes through centres instituted for the purpose.

The library has room for up to 8,000 students, offers 738 open access study places and 246 open-access IT workstations. As well as the books and periodicals you expect, it is home to computing facilities for students.

Our collections contain over half a million items, including qround 3,000 current journal titles with over 20,000 electronic resources, including databases, journals and ebooks. Also a substantial media (CD and DVD) collection.
