EY Techathon 2 concludes with winners finding solutions to environmental issues

India, 16 March 2022:  EY, the leading global professional services organization, concluded the second edition of EY Techathon in India, that focused on finding tangible solutions to real-world problems of environmental impact. EY Techathon 2 challenged students from across disciplines to develop novel solutions using technology that can enable planning authorities and policymakers to answer critical questions.

Online Internship with Certification

In a world where everything from business models and value chains to government functions and social contracts is getting disrupted, this virtual innovation challenge witnessed participation from over 1000 students from more than 100 colleges across India. Participants used the latest technologies such as AI/ML, data and analytics, blockchain and vision analytics to develop solutions to make cars greener, build efficiencies in the logistics industry, limit green cover depletion and bring transparency in carbon credits. The shortlisted finalists were given the opportunity to present their ideas at the grand finale, to an independent jury of industry leaders like Bose Varghese, Head – Green Initiatives, Infosys, Binu Treesa, IT Sustainability Leader India, Decathlon and Meenakshi Burra, CDO and VP Technology, Analytics & Business Services (South Asia), Hindustan Unilever. The two teams that built the most innovative prototypes, incentivising greener driving habits through IoT and analytics and minimizing green cover depletion using vision analytics were declared as the winners of EY Techathon 2. The competition was won by Team Passion Pavers’ from Shailesh J Mehta School Of Management and the runner-up was ‘Team Binary’ from KJ Somaiya College of Engineering.

The EY Techathon focused on bringing practical innovation in sustainability, commenced in November 2021 and concluded on 28 Feb 2022 with the felicitation of winners. The finalists were given an opportunity to present their solutions to an esteemed jury in this virtual innovation challenge. Along the way, they were also given numerous opportunities to learn EY’s technologies and platforms, connect with the EY leaders and learn ways of applying new digital paradigms to solve problems.
