Gurgaon Joins The World to Mark Earth Hour

Gurgaon: Gurgaon joined several cities across the globe to observe Earth Hour with prominent residential areas and educational institutions deciding to turn off electricity for one hour.

Among those who enthusiastically participated in the initiative are DLF Gardencity, Lancers International School, Northcap University, Suncity World School and Starex University.

“We have always been sensitive towards issues of global concern and are delighted to extend our support to WWF in this eco-friendly revolution. A global event of this scale is ideal to make people aware and reflect upon the judicious use of energy. I am glad that DLF Gardencity residents came forward and whole-heartedly participated in this drive,” said Mr. Saurabh Kuchhal, President, DLF New Town Heights – Sector 90 Condominium Association.

Enviro, facilities management wing of Vatika Group also observed Earth hour in various residential complexes in sectors 82, 82A, 83, 84 and 85, Gurgaon.



Meanwhile, a special assembly was organized at Lancers International School led by students to mark the Earth Hour.  The assembly stressed on the need to raise awareness on issues of global concern such as climate change and global warming. The students also shared their views on ‘How to Save the Earth’ and secure the future for further generations. They urged the school community to switch off lights for 2 hours and make use of solar lights. The students also sang the famous song by Michael Jackson ‘Heal the World’ to mark the occasion.

“Lancers has always believed in the cause of sustainable living. We believe that children should be sensitized about the need to safeguard the planet from tender age onwards. Earth Hour is a great initiative to drive conversation about sustainability and make people more aware of the impact their individual choices make to a country’s sustainability efforts. We are very proud to extend our support to the global community for this noble cause,” said Mr. Rohit Mann, Director, Lancers International School.

All students of The NorthCap University were also instructed to keep their lights off during 8.30 PM to 9.30 PM on the night on 25th March in order to contribute their bit towards the Earth hour.

The Management and Faculty members of Starex University also contributed by switching off their lights for an hour.

“Earth hour is the World’s largest environmental grassroots movements in history, connecting hundreds of, millions of people all over the planet. The University requested all the staff, students and faculties to switch off lights from8:30Pm to 9:30 Pm on 25th March, 2017 to be a part of the world’s largest Voluntary action for the environment,” said spokesperson, The NorthCap University
