International Wome’s Day History From 1908 to 2011
The journey of IWD was started in 1908 when women came on the street of New York City with the aim of better pay, shorter hours, & Voting rights. In 1910, the First time the idea of celebrating IDW presented in the International Conference of Working Women. After one year, In 1911, Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland celebrate International Women’s Day on 19 March. In 1913 – 1914 Russian Women obtained this idea and celebrate IWD on the Last Sunday of February but which was shifted on 8th March. United Nations celebrates in 1975 and in 2011 President Barack Obama announced the month to be “Women’s History Month”.
