Amity University Mumbai’s annual sports event, Sangathan, opened with great enthusiasm and energy. The Sangathan flame, symbolizing unity, brotherhood, and the spirit of innovation and creativity, was received at the main gate of the college by retired Colonel Sharanjit Singh, Director, Security and Dr. K.K. Singh, In charge hostel. The spirited students then carried the flame across the campus. Finally, the flame found its place on the sprawling sports field of AUM, where it would burn throughout the Sangathan celebrations.
The main goal of Sangathan is to promote a sense of togetherness and overall well-being in today’s youth. It is a valuable lesson in sharing, caring, and promoting our physical, social, and spiritual development. Sangathan is not just a sporting event, but it also plays an important role in developing 21st-century skills such as leadership and critical thinking.
In his address to the gathering, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) A.W. Santhosh Kumar emphasized the significance of sports in a student’s life. He noted that sports encourage students to organize themselves, develop leadership qualities, and foster teamwork. These experiences not only help them excel in campus games but also prepare them to face life’s challenges.
The concept of Sangathan reflects the visionary thinking of Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, founder president of Amity Education Group. His vision continues to inspire Amity universities and institutions in India and abroad to achieve the seemingly impossible.
The inauguration was followed by a lively tug-of-war competition between Team VC and Team Registrar of Amity University Mumbai. Deans, Heads of Institutes, Heads of Departments, Faculty members, Officials and a large number of students enthusiastically participated in the Sangathan 2023 Inaugural event.
