Chennai, July 13, 2022: The NSS volunteers of SRM Valliammai Engineering College participated in the Graffiti competition and singing contest conducted on July 06, 2022, by the Maraimalai Nagar Municipality Offcials. The volunteers were taken to the Maraimalai Nagar Municipality for office wall-graffiti contest and showcased their creative skills by drawing and painting pictures to generate environmental awareness.
The participants skillfully began drawing on the office walls. Municipality office walls were filled with colourful paintings. Students showed their creativity in the wall with artistic colours. The officials provided the required colours and equipments. 37 students participated in the graffiti contest. They were divided into 11 teams, with three to four students per team.
Each team was given a space of 6×5 square feet with themes “My wastes, my responsibility,” “People’s contribution to a clean city,” “Solid waste management,” “Importance of growing trees,” “Environmental conservation,” “Importance of rejecting plastic,” and “Safety” were the topics given to the students.
After finishing graffiti’s, the students took pictures and posted them on the Municipality website. Special space was allocated on the website for the students in the singing competition to shoot their competition videos and post them online. Participants were busy composing and practicing their tunes until afternoon. They then recorded their songs and filled up the appropriate Google forms and posted them online.
The corporation officials lauded the participation and efforts of the students. They thanked the NSS official, Dr. S. Parthasarathy for encouraging the student volunteers to participate in the contest.
