The programme started with  Dr Prachi Gharpure, Director NMIMS Indore, welcoming all the guests present. In her welcome note, while speaking about the 40-plus year legacy of NMIMS, Dr Gharpure also mentioned the meteoric growth of the Indore campus since its inception in 2017. “With unparalleled, modern infrastructure, unique culture and our holistic approach towards education, we are sure, NMIMS Indore will soon be the No. 1 preferred University in the western region of India. She further went on to thank Mr Zafar Sareshwala and his wife, Ayesha Sareshwala, for this noble initiative, which was in tune with the philosophy of NMIMS to promote social sensitivity amongst its students. Thanking the people responsible for conducting the workshops, she said, and  “Today, the students will be learning from the best of the best in the industry.”

Next, Mr Arbaz Khan delivered an inspiring keynote address, encouraging the students to follow a ‘system’ to achieve their goals. “Consistency and diligence are the only things that will help you to succeed in life. Life is a marathon, not a sprint,” he advised. Establish your own benchmark of what success is rather than comparing it with someone else’s. The competition is fierce, so focus on yourself, your path, achievements, and goals.” He ended with a beautiful quote from the book, Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie, introduced to him by his father, writer Salim Khan, when he himself was burdened with the expectation of so-called success. It said, if you focus on the positives, the negatives will go out of focus. That is what all of you should practise. Also, never forget to appreciate the blessings and the good things in your life.”

A humble vote of thanks by Mr Zafar Sareshwala, former Chancellor of Maulana Azad Urdu University concluded the programme. He thanked Arbaz Khan for making it to the event despite his hectic schedule and shared that since the celebrity was born in Indore, this visit fructified his connection with the city. He appreciated NMIMS for being such wonderful hosts while commending Reena Ashok and Shruti Kushwaha for conducting the workshop on entrepreneurship and helping students understand the concept of start-ups and how to take it to the next level by being ahead of the curve. “I request everyone to make the most of the learnings imparted today. I have brought the water to the horse, now it is up to it how much it wants to have. It is the same for you all,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the daylong Education to Entrepreneurship Program conducted various pertinent workshops to mark the special day.

Artist Ayesha Sareshwala, a JJ School of Arts alumnus, in association with the NGO Khushii, conducted a creative workshop on macrame and soap making for underprivileged girls.

The workshop on Financial Literacy: Meaningful Financial Inclusion dealt with the value of financial literacy and its importance when it came to earning, saving and controlling expenses.  The workshop on Entrepreneurship gave insights into how to build a business from an idea and scale it to the level of it becoming a Unicorn. The workshop on Indian Real Estate Sector equipped the participants with knowledge on what to expect from the real estate and construction industry in the next decade as also job opportunities in the realty industry.

The event, which saw the confluence of great minds, was a great success and the participants gained great understanding of the tremendous career opportunities ahead of them. The program aligned beautifully with the core principles of NMIMS – to create employable and confident young minds, who are equipped with the necessary arsenal to conquer the world.
