Two students from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore have made it to the grand finale of the flagship contests, ‘Olympus’ and ‘Corporate Catalyst’, which are part of Intaglio, IIM Calcutta’s annual Business School Summit.

The finals are scheduled to be held at the IIM Calcutta campus between January 8 and January 10, 2016.
The IIM Bangalore students, Kanika Garg and Amit Agrawal, both from the current one year full-time Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP) batch,
faced various rounds (including leadership contests, quizzes, videos, investment thesis, interviews, etc.), competing with 1651 participants from top business schools and other institutes in the country for Corporate Catalyst and with 1089 participants for Olympus, to reach the finals of both the events
Other than the IIMs of Calcutta and Bangalore, participant institutes included IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Lucknow, the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Xavier School of Management (XLRI), Management Development Institute Gurgaon (MDI Gurgaon) and SP Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR).
Event Details:
Olympus: Olympus is advertised as the hunt to find the one true leader from a galaxy of bright minds in B-schools across the globe. The first round tested the participants on general aptitude, logic and general knowledge. Subsequent rounds tested their personality by video on an abstract topic, psychometrics, resume and interview. The finale will test participants on various aspects of leadership as well as management vis-a-vis marketing, finance, operations, strategy, etc. The prize money for the competition is INR 1,30,000. Amit Agrawal has reached the finals of this competition.
Corporate Catalyst: This is a one of its kind contest, which tested candidates on skills which are necessary to excel in the field of investment banking, such as valuation, market knowledge, pitching, command over corporate finance, banking and negotiation skills, along with general aptitude. The subsequent rounds tested analysis and compilation for a case involving investment thesis, valuation, strategies and risks.
The final round will involve presentations in front of a qualified jury. More accurate the valuation, and better the pitch, the better is the deal that the I-Banker fetches. The prize money for the competition is INR 60,000.

Kanika Garg is an All India Mathematics topper and an IT professional. She acquired extensive experience working with IBM before joining the EPGP programme of IIM Bangalore. Amit Agrawal is a Fellow Chartered Accountant. He has worked with the Big Four consultancy firms and large multinational corporate houses.

Before joining the EPGP at IIM Bangalore, he worked as the Zonal CFO at Essel Group’s listed company. Together Amit and Kanika are working on starting a new venture – aajaa.in, a concept for ride sharing of cars and bikes.
