One of Australia’s leading teaching and research universities, The University of Queensland (UQ), is visiting India to meet with students interested in pursuing an education abroad.

New Delhi, Monday,24th September 2018 : Representatives from UQ will be in New Delhi on 27 September and in Mumbai on 29 September to meet with potential students and to showcase the range of courses and activities on offer to international students, including student exchanges and English language programs.

UQ Chancellor and former Australian High Commissioner to India, Mr Peter Varghese, said the University was committed to an expanded strategic investment in its partnerships in India. This will give Indian students the opportunity to partner with one of Australia’s leading universities in addressing key Indian and global challenges.

On Saturday, senior leaders from the University launched a flagship Academy of Research at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. With generous scholarship opportunities, the collaboration will enable students from both India and Australia to take advantage of world-class facilities and resources, and to gain exposure to culturally diverse research networks.

The number of Indian students in Australia has shown tremendous growth in the past year. Figures shared by the Australian High Commission in New Delhi show that close to 70,000 students were studying in Australian universities and colleges in 2017 – almost 15 per cent higher than in 2016.
