Power Minister to inaugurate first edition of Policies for Action (P4A)-Power Sector

Leading Indian innovators, awarded by Ashden, to share their insight into the sustainable energy space 

Energy leaders and policy makers to deliberate on challenges and solutions to achieve ‘Power for all’ 

July 25, 2018, New Delhi: R K Singh,  Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, New and Renewal Energy, will be inaugurating the first edition of Power for Action (P4A),  an initiative of Ashden India Collective (AIC), in New Delhi, on July 26, 2018. Desh Deepak Verma, Secretary General, Rajya Sabha, Dr. M. Thambi Durai, Deputy Speaker, Lok Sabha, and Hemant Lamba, Chairman, AIC, along with the other dignitaries and energy leaders, will also be present at the event.

A pool of senior experts such as K K Mishra, Director, Ministry of Power, Jeevan K Jethani, Director, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, T S C Bose, Executive Director, Rural Electrification Corporation, Vikas C Agarwal, Director, Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission and Sanjeev Jain, Director, Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA), will take part in the technical sessions. 

The highlight of the event will be the three Ashden Award winners from India, who will be sharing their experience and insights on the challenges and solutions to achieve access to power for all.

The P4A Series aims to bring all key and relevant stakeholders on one platform for debate, discussions and review on current policies/programmes for synthesising collective thoughts. As the first edition of P4A, the AIC will be presenting two roundtables on July 26, 2018.

The Policy Series-1 aims at discussing the success of Saubhagya, challenges and impacts, best practices for power for all and possible management strategies in terms of policy, technical, and capacity aspects. While Series II Roundtable will be deliberating upon costs and benefits of using modern cooking fuels.

Elaborating on the roundtable, Keshav Das, CEO, AIC, said, “The key objectives of the roundtable are: The evaluation of Saubhagya since its inception, role of DREs/mini-grids in the process of achieving 100% village electrification, integration of the mini-grid policy with Saubhagya and challenges and solutions to achieve power for all.”
