Delhi-NCR: Global Music Institute (GMI), India’s leading music college, is inviting applications for its Music Production and Advanced Music Production programmes. To be held from 29th September to 8th December 2018, these exhaustive and intense courses are aimed at enhancing a student’s understanding of music production and take it to the next level. The classes, spanning over 10 weeks, will be held for 3 hours on Saturdays. GMI has partnered with The Inventory and Ableton as an Ableton India Education Partner for both the programmes.

The curriculum has been designed by Ableton Certified Trainer, Aditya Balani and will be taught by Jay Pei. The course in Music Production is aimed at getting students started with making music using Ableton Live10, an industry standard and a powerful Digital Audio Workstation. They will learn how to organize their musical ideas, increase workflow, and use real-world techniques to polish their final productions.

Speaking about the courses, Mr Aditya Balani, Director & Founder, Global Music Institute, said, “As with all other courses at GMI, the music production programme is also designed in a way that will enable students to experiment with their creativity and learn at the same time. It is our firm belief that music education should be application based and with this course, students will be able to directly apply the tools and techniques to their music as they learn. The courses will focus on strengthening fundamentals and adapting to advanced tools and processes..”

The Advanced Music Production programme is designed to equip students with the knowledge and tools to take music production to the next level. It will delve into digital signal processing, dynamic processing, EQ techniques, mixing, mastering, and under the hood features of Live 10. With advanced modular sound design with subtractive, FM, physical, modelling and wavetable synthesis, max for live devices, students will be able to understand how to create a unique sonic palette and take the stage using Push, MIDI controllers and external hardware synth / effects.

Music education at GMI is viewed as holistic learning experience that is important at every stage of a person’s life and development. All programmes have a contemporary focus where a variety of musical styles including jazz, pop, rock and blues are explored. The curriculum is inclusive of an interdisciplinary approach combining Hindustani, western classical and world music. The choice of performance major offered includes guitar, voice, piano, drums, bass. GMI encourages students to develop a strong artistic identity and enables them to be versatile performing musicians.

Registration and orientation are scheduled for Saturday 29 September. Admission into this programme is open for aspiring musicians and those who are passionate to take on an intensive course of study. The minimum age to apply is 14 years (younger students may be considered on a special case basis).
