~ Ranked #1 in the U.S. for innovation, Arizona State University has launched the Master Learners Academy for international high school students. BrainGain Global Students attending the ASU summer program will get a $2000 scholarship on admission to ASU’s undergraduate courses~

New Delhi, March 27, 2019: Ranked #1 in the U.S. for innovation, dedicated to accessibility and excellence, Arizona State University (ASU), has launched ASU’s Master Learners Academy for international high school students aged 14-18 years. ASU has partnered with BrainGain Global, a SaaS enabled platform for higher education content, programs and tools, to invite applications for their Robotics, Technology and Invention Summer Program from July 6 – July 20, 2019. The program will be located on the Tempe campus near Phoenix, Arizona. Seats are filling up fast, so students are encouraged to apply early. Students who get accepted, attend and complete the summer program will be eligible to get a $2000 scholarship when they apply for an undergraduate course at Arizona State University. The students will also receive a certificate of participation upon successful completion of the program. The deadline for accepting applications for the ASU’s Master Learners Academy is March 31, 2019.

The Robotic, Technology, and Invention Summer Program is designed for students entering high school grades 9, 10, 11 and 12. The first week will focus on robotics which covers component-based robot construction, robotics programming, web programming and phone app programming as vehicles to teach the latest engineering design concepts, artificial intelligence and computing technologies. The robots built by students will enter a robotics challenge and demonstration at the end of the first week.

The learning objectives include:

  • Robot construction

  • Visual programming

  • Language programming

  • C# programming

  • Web programming in service-oriented computing

  • Mobile app programming

  • Robotics challenge

The second week of the program will cover the Art of Invention wherein students will be introduced to the engineering design processes while they learn and use basic science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) concepts like simple machines, electric circuits, programming, rapid prototyping in maker spaces and storytelling. This project-based approach will emphasize on problem identification, brainstorming, problem solving, teamwork and communication. The learning objectives in this week include:

  • CAD equipment

  • 3D printing

  • Rapid prototyping

  • Building skills

  • Chain reaction machines

  • Circuits

  • Programming

ASU’s Master Learners Academy’s summer program will also include workshops on interpersonal and leadership skills, the typical campus and American culture experience which will include the ASU campus tour, extra-curricular activities, Arizona Diamondbacks game (MLB game), access to Sun Devils Fitness Complex (full basketball gym, indoor soccer field, two full-sized pools) and field trip excursions like a visit to Great Canyon which is one of the seven wonders of the world, trips to shopping centers, ice-cream and pizza social, laser tag, bowling and video games arcade night.

The summer program costs $2,900 USD per student which includes tuition fees, on-campus accommodation and meals and off-campus activities and activity supply but excludes airfare, visa costs and international travel insurance. Applications for the ASU Master Learners Academy’s summer programs can be submitted online. ASU is one of the largest public universities by enrollment in the U.S. In 2018, it was chosen by U.S. News & World Report as the nation’s most innovative school for the third year in a row.
